Ten Serbian companies presented their products at the world's largest international fair of agricultural mechanization and technologies "Agritechnica" which was held in the German city of Hanover. The successful presentation of Serbian companies was confirmed by the signing of four contracts worth 1.2 million euros while potential contracts weigh over three million euros.
" Serbian companies had over 550 B2B business meetings with clients from Sweden, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, then Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Italy, as well as Spain and Scandinavian countries. In addition to commercial activities, the exhibitors used the fair to learn about new innovative technologies and machines in agriculture, automation, and numerous thematic forums and conferences for the future growth and development of crop production," says Bojana Lalović from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.&nbsp; "Agritechnica" once again demonstrated the innovative power of agricultural technology. Ten Serbian companies at Agritechnica- the World's Leading Fair of Agricultural Mechanization

Franchising is one of the most stable models for entrepreneurial growth and development, as well as a business potential that remains insufficiently utilized in Serbia it was highlighted at the International Franchising Conference “From Idea to Market – Together Towards New Opportunities”, held today at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
The conference, jointly organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and the Serbian Franchise Association, brought together representatives of national franchise organizations, successful franchise systems, and business development experts from the United Kingdom, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Canada, Belgium, and other countries.

Mihailo Vesović, Deputy President of CCIS, stated that Serbia has 250 registered franchise brands, 4,500 business entities, and around 30,000 employees. However, domestic brands account for only 35 percent of the market, significantly lower compared to the European average.
He emphasized that franchising globally accounts for 6.3 percent of the world’s GDP, with a new franchise opening every seven minutes, and around three million franchise units registered worldwide. “This concept can greatly contribute to the development of entrepreneurship. It is crucial for franchise owners to collaborate and use conferences like this as an opportunity for networking and knowledge exchange,” Vesović said.

Simon Bartholomew, Secretary General of the World Franchise Council and representative of the British Franchise Association, highlighted that cooperation between franchisors and franchisees is at the core of the most successful business models. According to him, the most developed franchise markets are the United States ($897 billion), the United Kingdom (£19 billion), and Canada ($20 billion), while New Zealand and Australia are among the most advanced markets in this sector.
Tatjana Petković, President of the Board of Directors of the Serbian Franchise Association, emphasized that the association’s goal is to build a stable and recognizable franchise system in Serbia that will create new jobs and strengthen the economy. The mission aims to strengthen economic ties, encourage new investments, and position Serbian companies in one of the world’s most dynamic markets.

Addressing the participants, Mihailo Vesović, Deputy President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, recalled that Serbia and the UAE have nurtured stable, long-term economic relations for decades, as evidenced by numerous investment projects undertaken by companies from Abu Dhabi.
Among the key projects are Belgrade Waterfront by Eagle Hills, agricultural and agribusiness projects implemented by Al Dahra, Elite Agro, and Al Rawafed, investments in renewable energy in cooperation with Masdar, the strategic partnership between Etihad Airways and Air Serbia, as well as the presence of financial institutions such as Mirabank. Vesović invited companies from the Emirates to participate in the specialized exhibition Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
Stevan Nikčević, State Secretary at the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade, emphasized that the forum represents a continuation of the strong relations between Serbia and the UAE, especially in the fields of investment, digital technologies, and the increasingly robust foreign trade exchange.
Vladimir Marić, Ambassador of Serbia to the UAE, highlighted that relations between the two countries rank among the most important for Serbia’s economic development, while Nemanja Jevtović from the Development Agency of Serbia presented Serbia’s investment potential and the macroeconomic advantages of doing business on the Serbian market.

Abu Dhabi as a New Hub for Serbia–UAE Partnerships

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS), Marko Čadež, participated in the two-day session of the European Trilateral Commission in Vienna, where the main topic was Europe’s strategy &mdash; how to preserve and strengthen its role on the global stage in the context of technological and geopolitical competition, and the strengthening of alliances and partnerships.
The conference, held at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, took place under the motto “Agenda for Europe’s Role in the New World Order,” with special attention devoted to the need to increase investment capacities in technologies (AI, IoT, industrial digitalization) to ensure Europe remains competitive, as well as to the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU.
“As a new member, this was my first time participating in such an event, and it is truly a great honor, but also a major opportunity to hear from political and business decision-makers about the issues driving public life and European politics in relation to global developments,” said Čadež.
He emphasized that the key themes included how Europe positions itself at a time of global tensions and the war in Ukraine, as well as in light of the new political reality in the United States&mdash;how Europe views itself, what goals it sets for its security and defense policies, and its stance on global issues.
“It was truly valuable to hear, above all, a renewed sense of optimism, since Europe has for a long time&mdash;over the past year or two&mdash;gone through a period of uncertainty about global developments and how to position itself. Now we can see that certain mechanisms are slowly being set in motion, including topics that are important to us, such as enlargement and the integration of the Western Balkans into the EU,” Čadež noted.
According to him, nearly all participants&mdash;political and major business leaders and members of the Trilateral Commission&mdash;expressed strong determination that a way must be found to accelerate the integration of Western Balkan countries into the EU.
“They stressed that this is a highly important geopolitical issue and that it must not be delayed. That is one of the most important impressions I took away,” emphasized Čadež.
He added that technology was another major topic of discussion.
“I had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues that have significantly transformed Serbia’s economy and the country’s image in the world. Serbia is recognized as a technological hub, a place with strong innovation potential, and one of the leading software exporters per capita. Today, Serbia is recognized not only as a technologically developed economy, but also as an economy that has built the fundamentals for the new digital-age economy,” the CCIS President said.
He stressed that it was personally important for him to raise the issue of improving regional cooperation.
“I personally want to help create an even stronger cooperation platform among us. As a region, we have a lot to offer, yet it seems that too little is known about us,” Čadež stated.
He highlighted that for the Western Balkan region in particular, it was crucial to hear a clear position that new ways of accelerating integration into EU structures must be considered, as this is essential for Europe’s security and consolidation in the new global order.
Čadež expressed special gratitude to the Serbian members of the Trilateral Commission who attended the meeting in Vienna&mdash;World Bank and EBRD advisers, as well as Harvard Alumni Association Director Aleksandra Drecun, Agrikom Group founder Aleksandar Lalić, and Mia Kovačić, Rockefeller Foundation fellow and industrial decarbonization expert.
The Trilateral Commission is an international, non-governmental organization founded in 1973 at the initiative of David Rockefeller and Zbigniew Brzezinski. Since then, it has served as a forum for discussion, the exchange of ideas, and policy and economic recommendations. Membership is by invitation&mdash;bringing together prominent figures from politics, business, academia, and the media, with around 400 members worldwide.

Čadež at the Trilateral Commission Meeting in Vienna: On the Future of Europe and the Integration of the Western Balkans into the EU 

British support for infrastructure development, the green energy transition, and the strengthening of economic ties with Serbia and the entire Western Balkan region was one of the central messages of today’s regional business conference “Building Futures”, held at the Lоžionica in Belgrade. Participants emphasized that a deeper partnership with the United Kingdom is a prerequisite for accelerated growth, improved connectivity, and new investments across the region.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, stated that the United Kingdom could further intensify its financing for key infrastructure projects in Serbia and the region, proposing that one of the priorities should be the construction of a high-speed railway connecting Belgrade and Tuzla.<div class="article-photo"><img src="https://en-api.pks.rs/storage/assets/Tan2025-11-2010183683_6.jpg" id="image-tag-1763638384575" data-image-alignment="article-photo" data-image-size-id="original" data-asset-id="1899"></div>
“I would, for example, really like, and I believe the British can help us with this, to build a high-speed railway. It would run from Belgrade to Ruma, but above all, from Ruma to Bijeljina to Tuzla. This would connect Belgrade with Semberija, as well as with Tuzla, the second-largest city in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is of exceptional importance for us. If trains reach 200 km/h, the Belgrade–Tuzla trip would take an hour and a half, no more than that&mdash;closer and faster than Tuzla–Sarajevo,” Vučić said.
He emphasized that Serbia needs loans and financing for cross-border cooperation projects, and that further infrastructure development toward North Macedonia is also vital.
“We are working on renewable energy sources. Through major energy projects, we also see opportunities for UK-supported financing. “Institutional integration is yielding results&hellip; As for investment, it is important that funds are available to both Serbian and UK companies, and financial instruments help reduce risks and encourage investors. In the industrial segment, the services sector is the best example of how a principled approach produces real effects,” Vesović said. The UK Ambassador to Serbia, Edward Ferguson, emphasized that the UK continues to see steady business growth with Serbia, and that British companies can offer expertise and advanced technologies, particularly in the field of green transition. He noted that last year trade between the UK and the Western Balkan region reached four billion pounds, while trade with Serbia exceeded one billion. He recalled that the first conference was held at the CCIS exactly one year ago, while today’s third meeting symbolically takes place at Lоžionica.
“The UK is offering 24 billion pounds for the entire region, and five billion pounds for Serbia,” Ferguson said, stressing that the goal is to support regional governments in strengthening exports and accessing global markets.
Numerous British companies are already operating in Serbia in the sectors of transport, infrastructure expertise, solar park construction, and decarbonization. Serbia–UK Partnership: From Innovation to Investment

Companies from Serbia once again stood shoulder to shoulder with global leaders in the private label industry this year. Ten Serbian companies are exhibiting at the largest North American private label trade show, PLMA Chicago, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Serbian Development Agency. Under the slogan “THE STORE BRANDS MARKETPLACE,” the event brings together more than 1,800 exhibitors from nearly 60 countries and around 5,000 professional visitors from the retail, import, distribution, and e-commerce sectors.
At the national pavilion of Serbia, from 16 to 18 November, the following companies are presenting their offerings: Agranela (Valjevo), Cold Pressok (Belgrade), Mambikom Agrar (Belgrade), Agro Partner (Lućani), M Pet (Belgrade), Budimka (Požega), MTM Sirela (Preljina), Packom International (Belgrade), Laki (Arilje), and TM Culinary Solutions (Belgrade). Their diverse assortment includes frozen and dried fruit, jams, spreads, juices, pet food, vitamin gummies and supplements, soups, and ready-to-eat meals developed according to buyer specifications, as well as professional solutions for the food industry. Visitor interest is high, as Serbian products have recorded growing international demand in recent years.
Participation in this fair represents an important step in strengthening the position of Serbian companies in the global private label industry. For domestic producers, PLMA Chicago is one of the key platforms for establishing contacts with leading retail chains in North America and beyond, which contributes to export growth, business expansion, and positions Serbia as a reliable partner in this sector, emphasizes Zorana Delić from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
She notes that on the day before the fair’s opening, thematic seminars are held focusing on innovation, development, and differentiation of private labels, as well as understanding the modern consumer. The fair traditionally begins with a working breakfast accompanied by lectures by leading representatives of retail chains. This year’s speakers included Joel Rampoldt, CEO of Lidl US, and Hunter Thurman, founder of Alpha-Diver, who presented the latest trends based on behavioral science.
During the three-day event, Serbian companies scheduled a large number of meetings with retail chains, importers, specialty stores, distributors, and packaging and design experts from North America and around the world. These interactions open new opportunities for partnerships, product placement, and long-term positioning of Serbian brands in the demanding U.S. market.
PLMA, the Private Label Manufacturers Association, was founded in 1979 and brings together more than 4,000 companies from over 75 countries. It organizes the two largest global private label trade shows, in Chicago and Amsterdam, which have become central hubs for all those who follow and create trends in this industry.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Marko Čadež, met with Paddy Cosgrave, founder and CEO of the Web Summit in Lisbon, to discuss the potential and challenges of the IT market, as well as new opportunities for strengthening the position of Serbian startups on the regional, European, and global levels.
As stated, during a highly constructive meeting, it was emphasized that Serbia is increasingly being recognized as a dynamic and innovative technology hub of Southeast Europe, with great potential for the development of the digital economy and for attracting investments.
At the Serbian national stand, where around 30 startups are being presented from November 10 to 13, meetings with investors have also been organized with the aim of attracting as many venture capital funds as possible. This year, Serbia is participating in the prestigious international wine and spirits fair ProWine Shanghai for the fifth time. From November 12 to 14, 21 companies are showcasing their products at Serbia's national stand, including 12 wineries and 9 distilleries.

Serbia at ProWine Shanghai 2025, Belgrade to Host Wine Vision by Open Balkan Next Week

“Serbia has become a regular participant at the Web Summit in Lisbon, the world’s largest technology conference. This year, we are showcasing around 30 of our startups with their own booths, while the large Serbian delegation includes about 300 innovators, entrepreneurs, and company representatives demonstrating what the Serbian IT and innovation ecosystem can offer,” said Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS), at the national stand of Serbia at Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon.
“A great success for Serbia is that as many as four of our startups &mdash; MyFlow, Njuppa, Codekido, and FinoApp &mdash; have been selected for the prestigious Showcase program. Out of more than 4,000 applicants, fewer than 400 startups are given the opportunity to present in this format, which is an outstanding achievement. This is a huge success &mdash; and we’re only getting started. Even greater results are ahead of us,” Čadež emphasized.
He reminded that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia has been systematically working with the startup community for two years now, helping them prepare for the global market, learn how to collaborate with investors, and turn their validated ideas into major business ventures. “A large number of leading global investors are present here, and our goal is for Serbia and our young people to be at the center of their attention,” he added.
Speaking at the panel discussion “How Innovation and FDI Work in Tandem,” alongside colleagues from Uzbekistan and Qatar, Čadež said that three different success stories from the IT sector were presented. “It is interesting that Uzbekistan exports around 700 million dollars’ worth of software, Qatar &mdash; a large country &mdash; about one billion, while Serbia, with a population of just six and a half million, records software exports worth more than 4.5 billion dollars. He noted that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia had proposed to the Government, eight years ago, to improve the education system &mdash; a move that led to the introduction of programming as a mandatory subject in primary schools. “That step laid the foundation for everything we are doing today in the field of digitalization and innovation,” Čadež said, adding that in 2019 Serbia installed the first state-owned supercomputer optimized for artificial intelligence &mdash; at a time when there were only two such computers across Europe. “That was a pioneering move by the Serbian Government &mdash; and today we already have two such systems, placing us ahead of many European countries in terms of technological infrastructure,” Čadež emphasized.
From November 10 to 13, Serbian startups are presenting solutions that cover a wide range of fields &mdash; from financial and legal technology, education, and healthcare, to smart cities, industry, logistics, digital marketing, sports, and socially beneficial projects.

Čadež at Web Summit in Lisbon: Serbia Showcases the Power of Innovation and Talent

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Marko Čadež, met today with representatives of Chinese technology giants Alibaba Group and JD.com during his visit to Beijing on the occasion of the Belt and Road Forum. Alibaba Group and JD.com are among the world’s largest e-commerce companies, with billions of users and a strong global presence.
President Čadež emphasized that Serbia is ready to support the development of a digital corridor between China and Europe, leveraging its strategic geographic position, modern logistics infrastructure, and liberal trade regime.
The meetings, attended by Marko Carević, CEO of Ananas, Nikola Bogojević, Director of Operations for Asia at Transfera, and Zhoucun Wang, Honorary Representative of the CCIS in China, focused on strengthening cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, logistics, and digital services.
A particular focus was placed on exploring the potential for connecting Chinese platforms with the Southeast European market through Ananas as a regional partner for localization and product distribution, as well as on introducing Cainiao logistics services and Alipay digital payments to the Serbian market.

Founded in 1999, Alibaba operates in over 190 countries and generates an annual turnover exceeding USD 1.2 trillion through platforms such as AliExpress, Tmall, and Taobao. JD.com, established in 2004, employs more than 550,000 people and runs one of China’s most advanced smart logistics networks, covering over 99% of cities and expanding rapidly across European and Southeast Asian markets.

In discussions with JD.com Vice President Zhang Xing, Vice President for Public Relations Cao Jiang, and Heidi Yuan, Head of Business Development at JD’s Cross-Border E-Commerce Platform, opportunities for strategic partnership were explored &mdash; particularly in developing a regional e-commerce and smart logistics hub that would connect Chinese companies with the European Union market.
These discussions are part of a broader effort to integrate Serbian companies into global e-commerce supply chains and attract new investments into Serbia’s logistics and technology zones.

The fourth edition of one of the largest wine and gastronomy fairs in Europe will take place from November 22 to 25 at the Belgrade Fair.
Belgrade once again becomes the world capital of wine and gastronomy!&nbsp;From November 22 to 25, under the domes of the Belgrade Fair, the fourth edition of “Wine Vision by Open Balkan” will be held &mdash; one of Europe’s largest and most significant wine and gastronomy events, created as part of the Open Balkan initiative connecting Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania.
This year, over 600 exhibitors will present wines, spirits, gourmet food, and tourism offers from Serbia and the region, as well as wines from renowned regions across all continents. During four days, Belgrade will be a meeting place for professionals, wine enthusiasts, restaurateurs, traders, and all those who believe that wine and food connect people, cultures, and traditions.
In addition to thousands of wines, spirits, and culinary specialties, the fair’s program will feature a rich schedule of educational sessions, workshops, masterclasses, competitions, panel discussions, and exclusive tastings. Many distinguished wine experts are expected to attend, including holders of the prestigious Master of Wine title, such as Rod Smith MW, President of the Institute of Masters of Wine &mdash; the world’s leading organization of wine professionals.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn how to taste wines like a Master of Wine, explore Serbia’s diverse wine regions, discover the country’s centuries-old rakija-making tradition, and attend lectures dedicated to autochthonous Balkan grape varieties and some of the world’s best wines.
Once again, the fair will welcome hundreds of wine traders, importers, and distributors from around the globe. Professional visitors and exhibitors will have access to a dedicated B2B matchmaking platform, enabling direct contact and business networking in a specially equipped business zone. Last year, the fair hosted several thousand successful B2B meetings, establishing “Wine Vision” as a key hub connecting the wine industry regionally and globally.
The highlight of the fair will be the announcement of the Open Balkan Wine Trophy winners &mdash; a major regional wine competition where wines from Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania compete for the title of best. The wines will be evaluated by international experts, including five Masters of Wine, under the leadership of Caroline Gilby MW, one of the most influential international authorities on wines from this region. The fair will also feature the results of the Rakija Trophy competition, which annually brings together the finest rakija producers from across the Balkans.
The culinary segment of the fair &mdash; Food Vision &mdash; will offer an even richer program this year, dedicated to regional gastronomy and hospitality. Serbian companies, led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS), presented the views of the Serbian business community at the European Parliament of Enterprises 2025 in Brussels, which brought together more than 700 entrepreneurs from across Europe. “Every two years, Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia have the opportunity to lead a group of companies that, within the framework of Eurochambres, the largest European business association, take their seats as Members of the European Parliament of Enterprises and directly present their positions before the European Parliament and the European Commission,” said Mihailo Vesović, Deputy President of the CCIS.
“Serbian business representatives in Brussels discussed economic challenges, the EU accession process, and the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans. He pointed out the importance of urgently addressing challenges such as long border waiting times, mutual recognition of certificates, and steel import quotas, all of which impact competitiveness. “We also raised the issue of the CBAM mechanism and other topics affecting our economy,” added the CCIS representative.
“Eurochambres will continue to advocate for the interests of businesses before European decision-makers. Without concrete reforms and the courage to simplify regulations and accelerate decision-making, we cannot progress,” stated Vladimir Dlouhý, President of Eurochambres. According to him, deregulation is a prerequisite for unleashing entrepreneurial energy, and Europe must listen more closely to the voice of its companies&mdash;the driving force of every change.
Adrijana Račanović from Comtrade emphasized that participation in the European Parliament of Enterprises was an exceptional opportunity to exchange views and experiences with European colleagues and to discuss the integration of the Serbian economy into the EU Single Market, its challenges, and prospects.

Serbian Companies in the European Parliament of Enterprises

A Serbian delegation, composed of representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and Serbian IT companies, visited the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce and met with its management to discuss strengthening economic ties and enhancing cooperation with U.S. partners.
The event took place on November 3, 2025, in Anaheim, alongside the Embedded World North America trade fair, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
During the meeting, Serbian companies Digital Logik, Nanowaf, Com Data, Veriest, DevPool, and Mikroelektronika presented their technological solutions, products, and innovative projects that position Serbia’s IT sector as one of the most dynamic in Southeast Europe. Special emphasis was placed on the expertise and high technical competence of Serbian professionals, which makes Serbia an attractive partner for development and investment in advanced technologies.
Representatives of the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce emphasized that Serbia is becoming a recognized destination for collaboration in the field of information technology, thanks to its innovation, skilled workforce, and favorable business conditions. On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Jelena Jovanović, Advisor to the President and Secretary of the Association for Electronic Communications and the Information Society, presented Serbia’s economic potential, highlighting the competitive business environment, rapid growth of the IT industry, and numerous investment opportunities.
From the U.S. side, hosts included Dave Coffaro, President of the Greater Irvine Chamber, James Mai, Deputy Mayor of Irvine, and Melinda Liu, City Council Member, as well as Dustin McDonald from the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz California), who presented available support programs, investment funds, and grants for international partners.
As part of the program, B2B meetings were held with U.S. companies from the IT, digital services, and startup sectors, where participants explored opportunities for joint projects, experience exchange, and entry into the U.S. market.
Among the U.S. participants were: Karin Koch (Economic Development Director), Bill Edwards (District Export Council), Helene Blanchette (Director, Schmid Center for International Business, Chapman University), Mike Merchant (CEO, Codazen), Juliana Elstad (CEO, NuVibe Medical), Tyler Train (Patent Attorney, Fish & Richardson), Dan Vozenilek (AT&T), Carlos Oregon (CEO, ThinkBox Technology Group), and Jas Kaur (Singh Automation / KTime HR).
The delegation also visited the University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine – Beall Center), where they were welcomed by Carolyn Stephens, Managing Director of Enterprise Collaborations. Discussions focused on potential cooperation in education, research, and innovation, with an emphasis on linking academia and business to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and develop new technological solutions.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia expressed its gratitude to the U.S. Commercial Service, the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, and the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce for their support and cooperation in organizing the visit, which further strengthened business relations between Serbia and the United States.
This visit is part of a broader initiative to deepen economic relations between Serbia and the United States, with a special focus on the digital economy, innovation, and technological development.
The event also served as an introduction to the participation of Serbian IT companies at the national pavilion of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia at the Embedded World North America 2025 fair, held at the Anaheim Convention Center from November 4 to 6, 2025.
