The presentation of Serbian wineries at the National Stand of Serbia at the recently held International Wine and Spirits Fair ProWein in Dusseldorf was more than successful. Serbian wines drew the attention of potential buyers from almost all continents which was confirmed by over 200 meetings during three day fair from March 19 to 21st. High-quality meetings were held with wine buyers from Germany, Belgium, Poland, Holland, Scandinavian countries, China, USA.
Organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Development Agency of Serbia, nine wineries presented their offer at the fair in Dusseldorf at the National Stand: Fruškogorski Vinogradi, Doja Winery, Drašković Winery, Verkat Winery, Rubin Winery, Pusula Winery, Savić Winery, Venčac Winery, and Tandeks/Petra Winery. The participation of Serbian companies in one of the most prestigious international wine exhibitions in Europe is an excellent opportunity for even better positioning of Serbian wines in the global market, as well as for increasing the exports of our wineries.
The international fair of wine and alcoholic beverages ProWein is one of the largest and most important specialized exhibitions of wine, winemaking equipment, and alcoholic beverages in Europe and the world, where distributors and representatives of leading retail chains meet.
This event brought together around 6,000 exhibitors from 61 countries, and the fair was visited by tens of thousands of wine lovers over the course of three days. More than 500 masterclasses and other events dedicated to wine were held. This year, for the first time, a separate segment of the fair was presented- A World of Zero Segment where alcohol-free wines, as well as those with low alcohol content, were promoted.
The fair was held in 17 halls, and the exhibition categories included wine, champagne, spirits, craft beer, and cider.
On the first day of the fair, Karolina Gilby, as the ambassador of Serbian wines, held the Masterclass Serbia ProWein - Taste the difference. As the owner of the prestigious Master of Wine title, she presented the audience with Serbian wines from various wine-growing regions, carefully selected to show the diversity and undiscovered potential of the Serbian wine scene.
Wine culture in Serbia and the region has a long and rich tradition from the time of the Romans who planted vines in the Balkans to the present day. The dedication and diligence of the people from this area gave birth to a tradition of wine culture that has been maintained throughout the centuries, successfully resisting all challenges, adapting to changes, and creating quality varieties recognized all over the world.
