Within the framework of the visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković to Azerbaijan, the Business Forum and B2B meetings of businesspeople of two countries were held. Serbia and Azerbaijan foster a strategic partnership in the key development areas, as well as traditionally good political relations without open questions, it was highlighted at the gathering.
The state-business delegation of the Republic of Serbia headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selaković visited the Republic of Azerbaijan on 26 and 27 July 2021 when the sixth session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Trade and Cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan was held. It was stated that the diplomatic relations and economic cooperation made a progress, and new directions of further activities were established for the upcoming period. At the margins of the session, and in the organization of the leading business associations of the two countries, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) and the support of the Embassies of two countries, the Business Forum and successful b2b meetings of businesspeople were held. Emphasis was given to the sectors of construction, infrastructure and logistics, agriculture, energy, tourism, and information technology.
Upon the welcome speeches by Fuad Jafarov, Director of AZPROMO, and Srđan Popović, Advisor to CCIS President, the hosts presented the potentials of the Alat Free Zone, and Serbian companies - Kalem fruit Miladinović, Korali, Jugoimport SDPR, M-Enterijer Gradnja, ALK Gradnja, Zepter Group, Milanović Industries Group and Milanović water treatment – had the opportunity to present their range of products and interest for operating in the market of Azerbaijan.
The Forum and b2b meetings were attended by 37 representatives of Azerbaijani companies and institutions. Serbian companies had the opportunity to visit a few domestic companies and get informed on technology and potentials for cooperation.
During the closing ceremony of the Business Forum, Nikola Selaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, and Sahil Babayev, Minister of Labour, and Social Protection of Azerbaijan, estimated that Serbia and Azerbaijan foster a strategic partnership in the key development areas, and traditionally good political relations without open questions.
In the comping period, it will be worked on intensifying contacts with businesspeople, and on expansion of economic cooperation, not only in trade, but in investments as well. In that sense, visas are expected to be abolished soon by Azerbaijan, on which it is being worked rapidly.
