"Our goal is to rank Serbia among the thirty most innovative economies in the world in the next few years, together with its Israeli partners," said Marko Čadež, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, at the official opening of CCIS representative office in Israel, the seventh in the world. The goal of the representative office will be the improvement of economic ties between Serbia and Israel, with a focus on the cooperation of companies in the field of innovations and the application of high technologies, scientific knowledge, and research in the economy.

Today, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia opened yet another window to the world, this time by opening a representative office in Jerusalem in Israel, the most innovative economy in the world. Therefore, our goal here, in Margalit Startup City, where our office is located, is to help our companies from traditional industries digitalize and modernize by connecting them with young companies that have the best hi-tech solutions,"  Čadez said.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia invited all Serbian companies, and those doing business in Serbia, to get in touch with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and its representative office in Jerusalem, located in Margalit Startup City, where the most innovative companies in the world come every day. "There are really good opportunities to do business, and, yes, if you have a good idea for a startup, you can get support here, because today Israel is the only place in the world where you can quickly, not only turn your idea into reality but also secure the funding," said the president of CCIS and invited all business people to visit CCIS representative office in Jerusalem.

The opening of the CCIS representative office in Jerusalem will significantly contribute to the improvement of economic and bilateral relations between our two countries, which have been very good so far. This will be an opportunity to make an agreement on signing the Free Trade Agreement and the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism. Serbia expects that the representative office in Jerusalem will contribute to increased investments of Israeli companies, especially in sectors of tourism, IT industry, information security, and start-ups. We also hope that our businessmen will not only increase the placement of goods and services on the Israeli market but that, together with Israeli companies, they will do business together in third markets, said Tatjana Matić, Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Telecommunications, who opened a representative office in Jerusalem together with Moshe Leon, Mayor of Jerusalem and Israeli minister of finance, Avigdor Liberman.

Minister of Finance Lieberman pointed out that representation is an important impulse for economic cooperation between the two countries, with an emphasis on innovation and high technologies. "This is even more important today, having in mind the fight against the pandemic," the minister said, adding that the Jewish people remember the contribution of the Serbian people to the fight against Nazism and fascism in the Second World War.

By opening the CCIS representative office in Israel, our country has joined the most advanced countries, which systematically work on networking of high technologies. In this way, the preconditions are strengthened in order to build Serbia as a regional hub in this sector and to present the Serbian IT sector in Israel. "Opportunities are open for trilateral and multilateral projects with countries where both Serbia and Israel have excellent relations, such as the UAE," said Aleksandar Nikolic, Director of the representative office.

The foreign trade exchange between Serbia and Israel was 72.2 million euros last year, and in the first nine months of 2021, the trade exchange was around 60 million euros. Israel is one of the most important investors in the Serbian economy, mostly in the real estate sector, and more than 140 Israeli companies are active in our country. Interest in cooperation between the two economies is reflected in almost all sectors, with an emphasis on the ICT sector, start-ups, innovation, consulting, health, agriculture, but also food industry, cyber security, wastewater treatment, and tourism.

This year, the two countries are also marking 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
