With about three billion euros of investments in the Serbian economy in the past two decades, Germany is our leading investment and foreign trade partner and take greatest merits for the modernization of the Serbian economy, said Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) in Berlin today.
"When you look at the trams in Munich or Bremen that Siemens did, you know that they were made in Serbia. There are still many such examples of successful cooperation between Serbia and Germany, which is the engine of development of the global economy, " Čadez pointed out in his speech at the ceremony on the occasion of the Statehood Day at the Serbian Embassy in Berlin.
Reminding that Sretenje symbolizes meetings, talks, dialogue, Čadež, anounced important meetings in Berlin and Munich, where he would have meetings with stakeholders in German politics and industry on strengthening bilateral cooperation and priorities when it comes to regional integration in the Western Balkans.
According to the president of CCIS, Germany is the first export market for serbian products, and the overall investment, economic-trade and political cooperation is at a high level. He also emphasized the importance of the great German support for the introduction of the dual education model in Serbia, which enables the education of professional staff according to the needs of the economy.
"A large number of Serbs are here in Germany, where I have lived since I was 13. The diaspora is a very important link for networking companies as well as for investment and improving business relations. We have launched a special digital platform within the project "Connect Serbia" in order to network the diaspora with the country's economy and encourage their investments and cooperation based on mutual economic interest. It is important to us that CCIS is seen as a partner and support in that process, "Čadež added.
The President of the CCIS also pointed out to German support for regional integration in the Western Balkans and pointed out that the implementation of the Open Balkan Initiative will contribute to economical connecting and strengthening of the region and resolving open issues between Belgrade and Pristina. The region as a whole will be more attractive for investors and more competitive on the global market, said the president of CCIS.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps, German institutions, the business community and the Serbian diaspora in Germany attended the reception at the Serbian Embassy in Berlin.
