Serbian companies are showcasing the potential of the country’s food industry at the ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE), which opened today in Shanghai. At the National Pavilion of Serbia, in the Food Products Hall, visitors can explore the offerings of 13 Serbian companies presenting a wide range of products to the Chinese market – from wines and fruit brandies to processed fruit products, aronia berries and dried fruit. The exhibition will run until 10 November.

The Serbian National Pavilion was visited by representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Beijing: Ninoslav Erić, Consul General, and Milanka Stojaković, Economic Counsellor. During their visit, they spoke with exhibitors about opportunities for placing Serbian products on the Chinese market, establishing new business contacts and strengthening economic cooperation between Serbia and China.

The following companies are presenting their products and offerings at the Serbian National Pavilion: Fru Com Plus, Varvarin; Agranela, Valjevo; Aronija Vita, Lazarevac; Fruškogorski Vinogradi, Banoštor; Aleksić Winery, Vranje; Đurđić Winery and Kiš Winery, Sremski Karlovci; Zlatni Plod, Sinišević; Monicom Agrar, Niš; Simex Original and Čoka Winery, Subotica; and ITN Group, Belgrade.

Chinese visitors will have the opportunity to taste Serbian wines, with a particular focus on indigenous grape varieties such as Tamjanika, Grašac, Smederevka, Prokupac and Vranac, as well as fruit wines and brandies made from plums, quinces, apricots and Williams pears, said Zorana Delić of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.

The range of products offered by Serbian companies also includes fruit juices, jams, pasteurised dried plums, pitted prunes, dried apricots, dried fruit balls, chocolate-covered plums, frozen fruit, fruit purées, aseptic fruit purées, aronia juice and a wide range of aronia-based products, as well as freeze-dried fruit, Delić added.

Since its inaugural edition in 2018, the China International Import Expo has served as a showcase for China's new development model and a platform for opening up to the world through the promotion of trade and investment.

The previous five editions brought together exhibitors from 131 countries and international organisations. Nearly 2,000 new products, technologies and services were presented, while the total value of announced business transactions reached almost USD 350 billion.

This year's expo has set a new record in terms of participation, with 289 companies listed among the Global Fortune 500, alongside leading companies from various industrial sectors.

More than 3,400 exhibitors and 394,000 professional visitors have registered to participate in this year's event.
