Serbia and Portugal have great opportunities for the development of cooperation not only in the sector of renewable energy sources, digitalisation, trade and building construction industry but also in joint appearances at the markets of Africa and South America where Portuguese companies have a large presence. This has been concluded at the meeting between the Secretary of State for Internationalisation in the Government of Portugal, Eurico Brilhante Dias, and the Director of the Sector for Internalisation of the CCIS, Mihailo Vesović.
“Diversification of the market is always welcome in international business operations and Portugal is a market with great potentials for cooperation. Serbian and Portuguese companies can greatly contribute to the stronger development of trade cooperation between our two countries by means of the exchange of knowledge, technologies and innovations” said Vesović. He has reminded that a webinar on the possibilities for cooperation with Portugal has been recently held and that it has been attended by over 100 Portuguese and Serbian companies and institutions, which speaks of the great interest in the development of economic cooperation.
Vesović has emphasised that the development of the circular economy and digitalisation are among the priorities of the Serbian economy and he has also pointed to the recently established CCIS Platform for the Development of the Circular Economy, which is intended for strengthening and connecting companies with scientific and state institutions in order to apply principles of sustainable development in production processes in the most efficient way. He has emphasised that opening of a direct airline between Belgrade and Lisbon will be of great importance for stronger development of business relations between the two countries.
The Secretary of State for Internationalisation in the Government of Portugal, Eurico Brilhante Dias, has said that Portugal is a country comprised of small and medium size enterprises that make up as much as 98 percent. “Our economies are similar and this is the reason why we should try to improve trade exchange, inflow of investments and the exchange of technologies by strengthening business cooperation”, said Dias. He has pointed out that three large Portuguese companies are already interested in cooperation and transfer of technologies in the field of the construction of wind farms in Serbia. He has added that good relations between the two countries are evidenced by the fact that Serbia and Portugal will celebrate 104 years of diplomatic relations in 2022 and he has announced the organisation of a business forum and bilateral meetings of companies of the two countries. He has invited Serbian companies to take part in the Web Summit, one of the largest events committed to the development of innovations and technologies in the world, which will take place in a hybrid form in Lisbon in November. “Every year, the Web Summit brings together over 17,000 entrepreneurs, innovators and representatives of large technology companies from all over the world and it is the right place for the development of business operations”, concludes Dias.
