National day of Serbia was celebrated at the World Exhibition in Dubai with the raising of the Serbian flag in the Al Wasl Dome and the intonation of the Serbian national anthem. The opening ceremony was followed by spectacular artistic, cultural but also rich business program.
On this occasion the investment conference "Serbia Country Business Briefing" was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Serbia. As it was pointed out at the investment conference, the agri-food industry, ICT and biotechnology are sectors of the Serbian economy with the greatest potential for development and further investments, which is proved by export results of these industries and success in creating innovations.
"Serbia is focused on progress and it is rapidly developing economically. Expo 2020 Dubai has exceeded all expectations in terms of the organization of the World Exhibition, both in terms of concept and implementation, as well as in terms of its significance and mission, "said Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matić.
Participation in the Expo exhibition enables Serbia not only to present its potential, but also to develop business networks and build its image, as well as to work on further strengthening of the partnerships between Serbia and the UAE, Matic pointed out. We encourage the development of Serbian companies, we provide significant support to the development of innovative economy and knowledge economy through the presence of a large number of highly qualified experts, primarily in the fields of information technology, medicine, engineering, higher education. "Serbia is recognized as an important investment destination by our partners from the UAE, but also as a very interesting tourist destination," Matic said.
Minister of Tolerance of the UAE and the Commissioner General for Expo 2020 Dubai, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan addressed the importance of Serbia's continued commitment to this global event and the ideas, experiences and opportunities brought by its participation in the world exhibition. The UAE and Serbia nurture strong bilateral relations that continue to develop and grow, and it is important that we constantly improve exchanges in education, science, economic cooperation and other areas of mutual interest.
Ana Ilić, Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister of Serbia and Deputy Commissioner General for Serbia's presentation at the Expo, assessed that Serbia presented its economic, technological, innovation, investment and tourism potentials in the best possible way. So far, more than 1,200 businessmen from the country, who have made more than 6,000 business contacts with potential partners, have presented themselves within the business program implemented by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Serbian Development Agency.
The investment conference "Serbia Country Business Briefing" is thematically focused on the investment potential of the agricultural sector and high technologies, in order to modernize, innovate and digitalize production.
As part of the investment conference, a panel discussion was held on the development path of the Serbian economy from traditional sectors to the current position of leaders in the region and the world when it comes to modern technologies, digitalization and innovation.
