Spas and climatic health resorts of Serbia represent one of the greatest riches of the tourist offer in Serbia, with a distinct potential for further investments in accommodation, hotel, medical and recreational facilities. Investments in some of the 28 spas and 19 climatic areas will primarily enable the development of these areas and attract foreign tourists, presenting them with authentic beauties and natural resources of our country and unique and dynamic content that characterizes Serbian spas, it was pointed out at the Third Investment Conference of Serbia "Spa & Wellness Real Estate", held at the Serbian Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 Dubai.
„Spa and health tourism, which includes natural spas, rehabilitation, wellness centers, is rapidly developing globally, which is a great opportunity for Serbia to attract renowned investors in this area whose potential is really great in our country, "said Mirjana Vučićević, secretary of the Association for Pharmacy and Medical Economy in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. Our country is rich in natural spas, we have about a thousand mineral springs, a rich history and a long tradition of spa tourism as well as good quality service. With the arrival of investors and the application of modern technologies and innovations, our spas and rehabilitation centers will be able to meet the highest world standards, Vučićević added.
In her words, investments in this sector will contribute to the strengthening of other economic branches, greater engagement of the local population and smaller companies, and overall economic development.
"After significant results in attracting foreign direct investment in the manufacturing sector, employing large numbers of people and gradually increasing living standards, the state's focus is now shifted to provide support to the development of SPA tourism. "Foreign tourists are increasingly interested in authentic locations, natural resources and places that offer healthy and active holidays, which give us space to enhance the offer of our spas and climatic places and encourage their popularity among foreign guests," said Nikola Jankovic, Director of Sector for International Cooperation at The Development Agency of Serbia.
Following spas in Serbia such as Ovčar Banja, Slatinska Banja, and Atomska Banja which are located on the territory of the City of Čačak, and Ovčar and Kablar gorge were also presented among the investment opportunities.
