Čadež: We Establish a Council for Faster Movement of Goods between Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia

Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia will establish an Implementation Council in order to accelerate as soon as possible the movement of goods, services, people, and capital, and to start applying a system of single work permits for citizens of these three countries from the beginning of 2022, stated today Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia after the meeting of the leaders of Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia with businesspeople from the region and the Atlantic Council,  within the Open Balkan Initiative.

„We have made an agreement to accelerate additionally this process and to establish the Council, which will involve representatives of the chambers and line ministers of the three countries. Members of the Council will inform every week the leaders of these three countries about what has been done and what else has to be done”, said Čadež.

The CCIS President highlighted that it was important for companies operating in Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia to have equal treatment and business opportunities in all three countries.

“It was important for businesspeople to have an open discussion with the leaders of Serbia, Albania and North Macedonia about how to accelerate the movement of goods, services, and capital through these three countries”, emphasized the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia. 

The meeting was attended by a total of 22 holding companies that operate in all the Open Balkan countries and employ around 50,000 people in the entire region and record an annual turnover of over EUR 4 billion, stated Čadež.

Čadež highlighted that it was important to solve the problem of mutual recognition of phytosanitary and veterinary documentation until the next meeting of business people and representatives of the three countries in Tirana next month.
