Serbia can be a regional hub for networking and joint projects with renowned Israeli institutes, universities, startups, and innovation centers, and is ready to apply extensively the knowledge and experience in the development of innovations and nanotechnologies, said the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Marko Čadež in Tel Aviv today.

During his visit to the Bar-Ilan Institute for Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials (BINA) and discussion with director Dror Fixler, Čadež pointed out that Serbia has excellent young experts – innovators and that great progress has been made in the application of modern technologies in all areas. He added that there are many quality projects that can be implemented with Israeli partners. Among such projects, according to the president of CCIS, is BIO4 Campus for bioinformatics, biotechnology, biodiversity, and biomedicine.

"BIO4 campus is a national project for the construction of a unique complex which will gather experts, knowledge, and infrastructure needed in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioinformatics, and biodiversity. The guiding idea is for Serbia to be a recognizable point in these fields when the global map of research and development is concerned.

“BIO4 will become a place of meeting and communication, where large biopharmaceutical and biotechnology companies can establish cooperation with scientists of different profiles, experts, startup companies, entrepreneurs and develop products that will improve the life quality of all of us “, said the director of the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering of Serbia Jelena Begović.

BINA (https://nano.biu.ac.il/) has 71 state-of-the-art laboratories, as well as other research and development centers. It educates experts in the field of nanoscience and robotics, biotechnology, cooperates with the academic community not only in Israel but around the world, as well as large multinational companies.

The Director of BINA Dror Fixler has pointed out that this institute has proposals and solutions that can be developed in cooperation with the Serbian academic and business community and can be applied in the fields of economy, medicine, pharmacy, and IT.

During the visit to Bar-Ilan Smart City (https://biu-smart-city.com/), Čadež talked about the application of innovative solutions in the development of IT infrastructure and logistics. This research center also provides state-of-the-art digital and innovative solutions for entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises in terms of sources of financing, networking, and application of digital technologies.

The President of CCIS presented the domestic IoT (Internet of Things) platform LoRa, which enables connection and mutual communication of a large number of different devices through a sensor system, remote control, efficient data collection, and creation of various smart business solutions, both for companies and local communities. The LoRa system is applied in Belgrade and is very important for companies dealing with logistics.
