Čadež: From the Shock Phase to the Phase of Artificial Intelligence Application

The international exhibition "EXPO Osaka 2025", which will take place from April 13th to October 13th this year, presents a significant opportunity for Serbian companies and our country to showcase themselves to the world and build a "time bridge" to the Specialized Exhibition "EXPO 2027" in Belgrade. This was emphasized today by Siniša Mali, Minister of Finance, and Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS).
At the presentation of Serbia’s participation and national pavilion at "EXPO Osaka 2025" in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, it was highlighted that "Osaka 2025" is an exceptional opportunity for Serbian companies, as the event in Japan is expected to attract 28 million visitors from more than 160 countries over six months.

"This is a tremendous chance for us to present ourselves to the world and establish a time bridge to 'EXPO 2027' in Belgrade, which is progressing well and thriving. At the invitation of CCIS, over 160 companies from various industries, ranging from food producers and processing industries to the ICT sector, have expressed interest in participating in thematic weeks in Osaka," said Čadež.
He added that CCIS, in cooperation with Japanese partners, will organize two major central economic events in July and September:
"An investment conference on June 23 in partnership with JETRO and a business forum in September&mdash;a B2B event following up on the business forums we held in Japan and Belgrade last year, which gathered more than 250 companies."
Čadež expressed confidence that Serbia’s participation at "EXPO 2025" will lead to more Japanese investments in Serbia, Serbian investments in Japan, and joint projects.
"We expect to secure another highly significant agreement this year&mdash;a bilateral investment promotion and protection agreement&mdash;and we hope for the return of the JETRO office to Belgrade, as well as continued successful cooperation with the Japan Business Alliance," Čadež stated, inviting Serbian companies to seize the opportunity to participate in "EXPO Osaka 2025."

Siniša Mali, Minister of Finance, emphasized that Serbia and Japan have a long-standing friendship spanning over 140 years and that Serbia’s participation in the Osaka exhibition is another chance to strengthen these ties.
"We are the only country from the Western Balkans with an independent pavilion in Osaka. The whole world will be there for the next six months. You have our pavilion, our infrastructure, ready to support you," Mali said, inviting Japanese companies to attend the exhibition in Belgrade in 2027.
Mali also pointed out that, just as all the infrastructure built for "EXPO 2025" will remain in Osaka and Japan after the event, the same will happen in Belgrade and Serbia after "EXPO 2027."
"What Osaka will be for the next six months, Belgrade and Serbia will be in 2027&mdash;the center of the world," the Minister of Finance emphasized.
Akira Imamura, Ambassador of Japan to Serbia, highlighted that "EXPO 2025" in Osaka is an excellent opportunity for Serbia and Japan to expand their cooperation. He noted that the exhibition would serve as a global hub of knowledge, bringing together solutions to worldwide challenges, and that Serbia’s participation will make a significant contribution to this effort.

"We are opening a new chapter of more intensive and improved cooperation, not only between the chambers of commerce of Serbia and the People's Republic of China but also between our member companies. This cooperation will be guided by new technologies and innovations in the future. At a time when China is experiencing global economic growth, it is a privilege to strengthen our ties, particularly in economic, trade, and investment cooperation," said Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS), at the opening of the Business Forum. The trade exchange of goods and services between the two countries is valued at $8.3 billion. China is Serbia’s largest import partner and the third-largest export destination for Serbian products worldwide. "Over the past five years, we have recorded an annual export growth of over 50%," Čadež stated. As he highlighted, the Business Forum, organized as part of the visit of China's state-business delegation to Serbia, presents an excellent opportunity to discuss concrete cooperation and business projects, such as Expo 2027 and the Beijing Supply Chain Fair, where Serbian companies will participate. "Our goal is to accelerate the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement, resolve administrative procedures together, and enable our companies to trade more easily. The fair will host companies from sectors such as clean energy, smart vehicles, green agriculture, information technology, and artificial intelligence," Ren stated, inviting Serbian companies to organize their own pavilion at the fair. Economic cooperation between Serbia and China is expanding, continuously achieving new successes, as demonstrated by the fact that China has become Serbia's second most important economic partner, noted the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, Li Ming. The Ambassador highlighted that in 2024, China was the largest single foreign investor in Serbia, with investments exceeding one billion euros. "Chinese companies operating in Serbia employ around 27,000 local workers," Li added. Čadež: A New Chapter in Cooperation Between the Chambers of Commerce and Companies of Serbia and China

Nofar Energy Ltd, an Israeli company, has successfully connected its 27 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Ada, Serbia, to the power grid. Located in the northern Bačka region, this complex consists of two solar parks installed in Ada, with a total investment of €25 million.
"When we consider the existing facilities of various Israeli companies in the renewable energy sector, such as the Kovačica Wind Farm, which has 38 turbines and a capacity of 104.5 MW, along with the Pupin project expansion that adds 16 additional turbines, each with an individual capacity of up to 5.9 MW&mdash;bringing the total maximum capacity of the wind farm to 94.4 MW by Enlight Renewable Energy&mdash;and Big Mega Energy, which has rooftop solar panels with capacities of 1.22 MW at Novi Sad 1 and Novi Sad 2, and 0.535 MW at Novi Sad 5, it becomes evident that our country is attracting strong interest and competition from internationally renowned companies. This demonstrates a high level of credibility among Israeli investors," said Aleksandar Nikolić, Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) Representative Office in Jerusalem and Honorary Consul of Serbia in Israel.According to him, two more Israeli companies in the renewable energy sector are in contact with the relevant institutions and are conducting feasibility studies for additional projects in Serbia.Nikolić emphasized that, in addition to the benefits of renewable energy sources, such as health and environmental preservation and the use of domestic resources, Israeli companies in this sector are also innovation-driven, particularly in energy storage, which will further contribute to the country’s energy stability and security. Finally, the associated infrastructure includes the reconstruction of rural roads in the area, spanning dozens of kilometers as part of the project.

Serbian Companies at Three Global Trade Fairs in Tokyo, Warsaw, and Nuremberg

The positive experiences of French investors in Serbia are reflected in the presence of 130 French companies that employ more than 13,000 workers across various economic sectors. New French investments are anticipated, and the French market remains open to Serbian companies. This was emphasized today in Lyon, France, at a business forum that brought together over 70 representatives from Serbian and French companies.
Serbia boasts stable GDP growth and a favorable investment climate, which is further validated by the presence of major companies such as Michelin and Schneider Electric. Mihailo Vesović, Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) for International Cooperation and Development, discussed the opportunities for strengthening business ties between Serbia and France. He highlighted Serbia’s well-developed infrastructure, science and technology parks, and its free trade agreements with major global economies.Ana Hrustanović, the Serbian Ambassador to France, emphasized the significance of French-Serbian cooperation, which is built on 186 years of diplomatic relations. She highlighted the increase in French investments in Serbia, stating, "Serbia is a strategic bridge to the Balkans, Western countries, and the rest of the world," as demonstrated by recently signed free trade agreements with China and Egypt. Hrustanović invited French companies to invest in Serbia.Sanja Ivanić, Director of the French-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, reminded attendees of the strong presence of French companies in Serbia, which currently number 130 and employ over 13,000 people. "The closer we cooperate, the more prepared France will be for new investments," Ivanić emphasized.
Michelin Serbia, a French investment in Serbia, highlighted the positive experience of doing business with France. Igor Tatić, a representative of Elixir Group, also discussed the collaboration with French partners in the mineral fertilizers sector.Philippe Meunier, Vice President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and Bertrand Vellon both agreed that France considers Serbia a key partner in the region, emphasizing the long-standing historical and economic ties between the two countries. They stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral trade and investment.As part of the forum, B2B meetings were conducted between French and Serbian companies. French Companies See Serbia as a Key Partner in the Region

Neomedica has successfully started the production of hematological reagents at its newly constructed factory in Cairo. In the last week of February, the production of the zero series of reagents was launched, marking an important step in establishing production capacities to support the healthcare sector of Egypt and the broader region of North Africa and the Middle East.
The newly built factory in Egypt has a production capacity that is four times larger than the capacity of its parent factory in Serbia. This significant capacity not only allows for the expansion of supplies to Egypt’s healthcare system but also enables export activities to surrounding countries in North Africa and the Middle East, contributing to regional development and improving healthcare services.
All production capacities of the factory have been fully installed and are operational. Extensive training and education programs for employees have been carried out, ensuring they are fully prepared for independent production.
Additionally, specialized quality control personnel have undergone training and work in synchronization with the quality control team in Serbia, ensuring the achievement of the highest quality standards in every segment of production.
Neomedica fully controls the production of hematological reagents, as well as the quality of products at its facility in Egypt. All production processes are carried out under strict supervision and in compliance with global standards, ensuring top-tier results and safety for end users.
In February 2024, Neomedica signed a tripartite agreement with the company El Hoda and the Egyptian government agency UPA (The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement and Medical Supply) to launch its production of hematological reagents in Egypt. This Serbian company has been supplying Egypt’s healthcare sector since 2016.

Serbian Companies to Showcase Innovation and Excellence at Three Major International Trade Fairs in March 2025

Israeli importers are increasingly interested in Serbian products,&nbsp; the signing of a free trade agreement between the two countries is expected in September, while additionally, Israel has confirmed its participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
"Following the visit of Foreign Minister Marko Đurić to Israel, discussions with the local business community, importers, and accelerators have shown increased interest in the standards and competitiveness of Serbian exporters, as well as in preparations for Expo 2027," said Aleksandar Nikolić, Director of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce’s Representation in Jerusalem and Honorary Consul of Serbia in Israel.
He emphasized the strong interest of retail supermarket chains and leading importers of the food industry.
"Accelerators such as Tech7, as well as companies like Colosseum and HYPE, known for their innovations in sports, are also looking forward to cooperation with Serbian businesses," Nikolić added.
During the visit, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar highlighted that Israel views Serbia as a strategic partner and reaffirmed the country's participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade.
Special attention was given to tourism and the networking of innovation ecosystems to strengthen bilateral relations. Minister Đurić noted that Serbia leads economic growth in Southeast Europe, with a growth rate of approximately 4%, a strong IT and software industry, and significant opportunities for partnership in these sectors, Nikolić added.
During a meeting with the Speaker of the Knesset, Amir Ohana, the discussion focused on trade growth statistics&mdash;a 63% increase compared to 2023&mdash;Israeli investments in Serbia reaching $3 billion, and a 37% rise in tourist visits. The very positive trends in economic relations between Serbia and Israel are paving the way for the signing of a free trade agreement, expected in September, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce representative in Jerusalem emphasized.

Free Trade Agreement with Israel Expected in the Fall

The Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Mihailo Vesović, met with the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts of Gabon, Pascal Ogowet Siffon, and the Minister for Institutional Reform of Gabon, Murielle Mikoué, to enhance bilateral economic cooperation.
As highlighted during the discussion, strengthening economic ties is of great importance. Gabon recognizes Serbia as a key partner, particularly in the fields of construction and infrastructure projects, as well as tourism, eco-tourism, agriculture, the wood and processing industries, and energy.
Vesović emphasized the need to intensify economic cooperation and facilitate easier communication between companies from both countries. In this context, it was agreed to work on signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and the Chamber of Commerce of Gabon in the near future, which will open opportunities for concrete business projects and investments.
The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts of Gabon, Pascal Ogowet Siffon, underscored the importance of promoting the tourism potential of both countries and announced that Gabon plans to participate at the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027.
The Minister for Institutional Reform, Murielle Mikoué, stressed the importance of creating a favorable business environment and enhancing institutional cooperation, which will contribute to developing economic relations and increasing Serbian investments in Gabon.

Serbia and Gabon Strengthen Economic Cooperation

Serbian companies showcased their products at Fruit Logistica 2025, Europe's leading fresh fruit and vegetable trade fair in Berlin. They held meetings with representatives from more than 220 top companies and secured on-site sales estimated at €2.3 million. The total sales potential from the fair exceeds €13 million.
With the support of the Swiss Government, through the International Trade Centre (ITC), and expert assistance from the Trade Promotion in the East (TPE) project, ten companies were featured at Serbia’s National Stand.
Fruit Logistica 2025 brought together 2,600 exhibitors from over 90 countries, representing various segments of the fresh fruit and vegetable value chain. The event was a unique platform for exchanging experiences, crucial for advancing the fruit and vegetable production sector. The fair, held in Berlin from February 5 to 7, 2025, attracted a record 91,000 visitors, including 23,500 company representatives at the exhibition stands.<div class="article-photo"><img src="https://en-api.pks.rs/storage/assets/FL 4_960x640.jpg" id="image-tag-1740046255063" data-image-alignment="article-photo" data-image-size-id="original" data-asset-id="1466"></div>
Serbian companies expressed their satisfaction with participating in this trade fair.
"The support in organizing the fair is extremely important to us, as it provides a unique opportunity to meet our customers, establish new business relationships, stay up to date with industry trends, and assess necessary future investments," said Marko Arsenović from COPA.

Excellent Perfomance of Serbian Companies at Fruit Logistica 2025

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and the Bank of China Serbia will establish a joint operational group (Task Forces) to expedite the implementation of investment projects and further strengthen the connection between the Chinese and Serbian economies. This was agreed upon today during a meeting between Marko Čadež, President of CCIS, and Jason Qin, Head of Business Development at Bank of China Serbia.
During the meeting, Čadež emphasized the significance of Chinese investments in Serbia and stated that new major investments from China can be expected soon.
"There is ample room for expanding our cooperation and attracting new investments. Our goal is to accelerate the negotiation of joint projects, implement new investments, and connect Chinese and Serbian businesses more efficiently," said Čadež, proposing that the headquarters of the operational group for strengthening Chinese investments be located within CCIS.
Čadež also announced that Belgrade and Serbia will host the President of the China Chamber of Commerce and a delegation of Chinese business representatives from March 19 to 21. On this occasion, a series of B2B meetings between Serbian and Chinese companies will be organized.
In April, a delegation of Serbian startups will visit the Suzhou Industrial and Technology Park in China, and preparations are underway for representatives of that Park to open an office at the Center for Digital Transformation (CDT) of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.

CCIS and Bank of China Form an Operational Group to Accelerate Investments

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) and the Development Agency of Serbia (RAS) are organizing the participation of 22 Serbian companies at the GULFOOD 2025 International Food Industry Fair, held in Dubai from February 17th to 21st. Serbian companies are showcasing their products at the National Pavilion of Serbia in one of the main halls&mdash;Trade Centre Arena & Sheikh Saeed Halls. On the very first day, they held numerous meetings with potential partners, including food traders, distributors, and representatives of major food industry players.The fair was inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, who emphasized the importance of this global event in strengthening Dubai’s position as a hub for food trade and innovation.
