Concrete support and daily communication with all companies suffering the consequences of the situation in Ukraine is needed in order to mitigate the impact of the crisis on European companies, but also companies from Serbia doing business with Ukraine and Russia, said Marko Čadež, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia and member of the Board of Directors of the Eurochambres.
At today's emergency video meeting of the Board of Directors of the largest European business association - Eurochambres, which represents 20 million companies and gathers 45 national and 1,700 regional and local chambers, Čadež pointed out that the crisis in Ukraine significantly affects the business of both domestic and European companies.
"We need to think about what we can do to help companies on the ground when it comes to exchanging of information but also regarding announced sanctions against Russia," Čadež said.
Companies are facing problems now because they do not have clear guidelines on how to continue their business, Čadež said, speaking of the global financial impact that the Ukrainian crisis has on the daily work of businessmen.
"The situation on the ground is such that our companies are facing difficulties in doing business with Russia and Ukraine due to problems in money transfer, transport, and logistics, as well as due to the weakening of the currency," said Čadež, who co-chairs the Common Market Committee and runs the Eurochamber Digital Network.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining constant communication between all European chambers of commerce with colleagues from the Chambers of commerce of Ukraine and Russia, which are also members of the Eurochambres.
Luc Frieden, President of the Eurochambres, noted that the situation that arose in recent days was very serious for the citizens of Europe and European companies, and that stability and peace are needed for normal business.
