Association of Metalworking and Power Industry

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Metalworking and power industry was around 3.6 billion EUR in 2023, which is the 5.7% of total GVA of the country and 4.8% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, nearly 1.1 billion EUR was created by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (31.6%) while manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment created 826.0 million EUR (22.7%). From 2019 to 2023, GVA share of metalworking and power industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows stable trend.

Export of metalworking and power industry in 2024 amounted to 12.9 billion EUR which is the 41.1% of total export and export of these products are higher than previous year for 3.8%. Metalworking and power industry are hiring 203.1 thousand of workers (8.8% of total employment) while the most are employed in manufacture of motor vehicles (68.1 thousand) and manufacture of fabricated metal products (55.2 thousand). In metalworking and power industry in 2024 was operating 5.9 thousand of active companies and 14.0 thousand of entrepreneurs which is in total nearly 19.9 thousand.
