Association of Metalworking and Power Industry

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Metalworking and power industry was around 2.2 billion EUR in 2021, which is 5.0% of the total GVA of the country and 4.2% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, nearly 874.3 million EUR were created by the manufacture of fabricated metal products (39.3%). The other activities have almost the same contribution. From 2017 to 2021, the GVA share of the metalworking and power industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows a stable trend.

Export from the metalworking and power industry in 2022 amounted to 11.0 billion EUR which is 39.6% of total export. The export of these products is higher than the previous year by nearly 2.0 billion EUR. The metalworking and power industry is employing 198.9 thousand workers (8.8% of total employment). The majority is working in the sector of manufacturing of motor vehicles (61.6 thousand) and production of fabricated metal products (53.9 thousand). In the metalworking and power industry in 2022 there were 6.0 thousand active companies and 12.2 thousand entrepreneurs operating which in total makes nearly 18.2 thousand.
