Association of Metalworking and Power Industry

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Metalworking and power industry was around 2.0 billion EUR in 2020, which is 5.0% of the total GVA of the country and 4.3% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, nearly 835 million EUR was created by the manufacture of fabricated metal products (43%). The other activities have almost the same contribution. From 2016 to 2020, GVA share of metalworking and power industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows the stable trend.

Export of metalworking and power industry in 2021 amounted to 9.0 billion EUR which is the 41.7% of total export and export of these products are higher than the previous year for nearly 2.0 billion EUR. The metalworking and power industry are hiring 194.1 thousand workers (8.8% of total employment) while the most are employed in the manufacture of motor vehicles (57.7 thousand) and the manufacture of fabricated metal products (54.2 thousand). In the metalworking and power industry in 2021 was operating 6.1 thousand active companies and 11.5 thousand entrepreneurs which is in total nearly 17.6 thousand.
