Association of Metalworking and Power Industry

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Metalworking and power industry was around 4.1 billion EUR in 2024, which is the 5.9% of total GVA of the country and 5.0% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, nearly 1.3 billion EUR was created by manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (30.2%) while manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment created 936.4 million EUR (22.6%). From 2020 to 2024, GVA share of metalworking and power industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows increasing trend.

Export of metalworking and power industry in 2025 amounted to 15.2 billion EUR which is the 46.1% of total export and export of these products are higher than previous year for 18.6%. Metalworking and power industry are hiring 197.3 thousand of workers (8.5% of total employment) while the most are employed in manufacture of motor vehicles (66.6 thousand) and manufacture of fabricated metal products (54.2 thousand). In metalworking and power industry in 2025 was operating 5.7 thousand of active companies and 14.6 thousand of entrepreneurs which is in total nearly 20.3 thousand.
