Association of Forestry, Wood Processing, Furniture and Paper Industries

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Forestry, wood processing, furniture, and paper industries was around 648.1 million EUR in 2021, which is 1.5% of the total GVA of the country and 1.2% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, nearly 219.1 million EUR was created by the production of paper products (33.8%) and 146.8 million EUR by the production of furniture (22.7%). The other two activities have an equal contribution, by around 20%. From 2017 to 2021, the GVA share of forestry, wood processing, furniture, and paper industries in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows a decline. 

Export from forestry, wood processing, furniture, and paper industries in 2022 amounted to 1.7 billion EUR which is 6.4% of total export. The export of these products is higher than the previous year (30.2%). This industry is hiring 55.1 thousand workers (2.4% of total employment) while most are employed in the production of furniture (21.9 thousand) and the manufacturing of wood products (17.3 thousand). In forestry, wood processing, furniture, and paper industries in 2022, there were 3.5 thousand active companies and 8.5 thousand entrepreneurs operating, making it a total of 12.0 active legal entities.
