In 2022, the Creative industry generated 866.5 million EUR in gross value added (GVA), which accounts for 1.7% of the total GVA of the country and 1.4% of Serbia's GDP. The advertising and market research industries created around 179.1 million EUR (20.7%) and other professional, scientific, and technical activities generated 159.0 million EUR (18.3%). However, from 2018 to 2022, the GVA share of the creative industry in the total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia has shown a downward trend.
Despite the negative effects caused by the Ukrainian crisis, the export of creative industry goods in 2023 amounted to 81.5 million EUR, which is 0.3% of total exports. This is slightly higher than the previous year (4.5%). Additionally, the export of creative industry services from January to November 2023 was 145.5 million EUR, accounting for 1.2% of total service exports.
The creative industry sector employs 63.1 thousand workers, which is 2.7% of total employment. Most workers are employed in creative arts and entertainment activities (10.8 thousand) and printing and reproduction of recorded media (9.1 thousand). As of 2023, there were 4.9 thousand active companies and 16.4 thousand entrepreneurs operating in the creative industry, totaling around 24.3 thousand.
