The total gross value added (GVA) generated by the Creative industry was 746.1 million EUR in 2020, which is 1.9% of the total GVA of the country and 1.6% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, around 145.2 million EUR were created by advertising and market research (19.5%) and 126.1 million EUR by other professionals, scientific, and technical activities (16.9%). From 2015 to 2019, the GVA share of the creative industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows a downward trend.
Export of these goods in 2021 amounted to 62.9 million EUR which is 0.3% of total export but despite the negative effects caused by the pandemic, export of these products are a little bit higher than the previous year. Also, the export of these services in 2021 was 114.5 million EUR which is 1.5% of total services exported. This sector of the economy is hiring 59.3 thousand workers (2.7% of total employment) while most are employed in creative, arts, and entertainment activities (9.8 thousand) and printing and reproduction of recorded media (9.5 thousand). In a creative industry in 2021 was operating 5.9 thousand active companies and 15.7 thousand entrepreneurs which is in total around 21.6 thousand.
