The total gross value added (GVA) generated by the Creative industry was 810.1 million EUR in 2021, which is 1.8% of the total GVA of the country and 1.5% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, around 162.2 million EUR was created by advertising and market research (20.0%) and 140.5 million EUR by other professional, scientific, and technical activities (17.3%). From 2017 to 2021, the GVA share of the creative industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows a downward trend.
The export of these goods in 2022 amounted to 78.0 million EUR which is 0.3% of total export but despite the negative effects caused by the Ukrainian crisis, export of these products are a little bit higher than the previous year (24%). Also, the export of these services in 2022 was 147.8 million EUR which is 1.3% of total services export. This sector of the economy is hiring 61.2 thousand workers (2.7% of total employment) while most are employed in creative, arts, and entertainment activities (10.2 thousand) and printing and reproduction of recorded media (9.3 thousand). In the creative industry in 2022 there were 4.9 thousand of active companies and 16.7 thousand entrepreneurs operating which is in total around 21.6 thousand.
