Association of Textile, Garment, Leather and Footwear Industries

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by textile industry was 548.9 million EUR in 2023, which is the 0.9% of total GVA of the country and 0.7% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, 317.4 million EUR created by manufacture of wearing apparel (57.8%) and 123.0 million EUR by manufacture of textiles (22.4%). From 2017 to 2023, GVA share of textile industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows downward trend.

Export of textile products in 2024 amounted to 1.5 billion EUR which is the 5.2% of total export which is slightly lower than previous year by 2.4%. Textile industry is hiring 55.4 thousand of workers (2.4% of total employment) while the most are employed in manufacture of wearing apparel (31.9 thousand). In textile industry in 2024 was operating 1.6 thousand of active companies and 6.2 thousand of entrepreneurs which is in total nearly 7.8 thousand.
