The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Professional, scientific, and technical activities was nearly 1.2 billion EUR in 2021, which is 2.8% of the total GVA of the country and 2.3% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, around 412.2 million EUR was created by activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (33.4%), and 399.3 million EUR by legal and accounting activities (32.3%). The other two activities have a lower contribution. From 2017 to 2021, GVA's share of professional, scientific, and technical activities in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia showed a slightly declining trend.
Export of these services in 2022 closed to 1.9 billion EUR which is 17.2% of total export but despite the negative effects caused by the Ukrainian crisis, export of these products is much higher than the previous year (by 37.9%). This sector of the economy is hiring 78.6 thousand workers (3.5% of total employment) while most are employed in legal and accounting activities (34.0 thousand) and activities of head offices; management consultancy activities (24.8 thousand). In professional, scientific, and technical activities in 2022 there were 10.4 thousand active companies operating and 26.7 thousand entrepreneurs which are in total around 37.1 thousand.
