Association of Construction Industry

The total gross value added (GVA) generated by Construction industry was 5.3 billion EUR in 2023, which is the 8.3% of total GVA of the country and 7.1% of Serbia’s GDP. Observed by activities, around 1.4 billion EUR created by civil engineering (26.4%), 1.3 billion EUR by specialised construction activities (24.2%) and 1.1 billion EUR by architectural and engineeting activities (22.0%). From 2017 to 2023, GVA share of construction industry in total GVA and GDP of the Republic of Serbia shows stable trend.

Export of these goods in 2024 amounted to 354.3 million EUR which is the 1.2% of total export but despite of the negative effects caused by turbulences at the global market, export of these products has not decreased comparing to previous year. Also, export of these services in 2024 amounted to 294.0 million EUR which is the 2.0% of total services export. This sector of economy is hiring 186.0 thousand of workers (8.0% of total employment) while the most are employed in specialised construction activities (63.8 thousand) and architectural and engineering activities (42.8 thousand). In construction industry in 2024 was operating 18.8 thousand of active companies and 53.8 thousand entrepreneurs which is in total around 72.6 thousand.
